These pearls started as post-shift emails to my residents, and the format never really changed. You’ll still see the tone and layout of an email—that’s intentional. It keeps the feel of how these started: a quick note after a long shift, part recap, part reflection, sometimes just a pointer toward another great resource worth exploring.

Post-Shift Rambling by

Dillon Warr, MD

Dillon Warr is an emergency physician at Valleywise Health in Phoenix and core faculty with the Creighton University Emergency Medicine Residency–Phoenix. A Temple-trained doc, he’s building a career around resident education, bedside teaching, and finding ways to make conference talks actually stick. He also serves on the Education Committee for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, pushing for better learning and stronger advocacy across the specialty.

When he’s not on shift, he’s usually swimming laps, dancing to Latin music, or letting his dog decide the walking route.
